Microsoft Is Making Windows 11's Search Function Better Than Ever
Windows 11’s search feature is already quite a lot better than its predecessor’s offerings, but Microsoft isn’t about to leave it as it is. The company has just announced more enhancements to Windows 11’s search bar that will make it even more powerful than before.
Microsoft’s Plans for the Windows 11 Search Bar

As reported on Windows Blogs, Microsoft is bringing a whole range of new features into the Windows 11 Preview build. There are plenty of interesting tidbits in the patch notes, but of particular interest is the Redmond giant’s plans to enhance Windows 11’s search tool.

If you log into Windows 11 with a work or business account, Windows 11’s search tool will then gain access to the files you have stored there. This means you can quickly and efficiently find your files, no matter where they’re situated.

The Search tool will also get a new lick of paint in the form of lifestyle-based widgets. It will soon provide you with daily nuggets of information, such as a curated “word of the day.” It’ll also let you know of any Microsoft Reward offers it thinks you may be interested in.

And if you’re someone who always forgets other people’s birthdays, Windows 11 will soon have you covered:

Search highlights will present notable and interesting moments—like holidays, anniversaries, and other educational moments in time both globally and in your region. You’ll find rich, bold content in search home that highlights what’s special about today.

The Search update isn’t live just yet, but Insiders can look forward to playing with the new tool “early next week.”

Microsoft’s Bid to Make a Windows 10 Successor

When Microsoft releases a new operating system, it always faces the same challenge. Users and businesses are comfortable with their operating system of choice, and now the Redmond tech giant has to convince them to upgrade to the newer one.

The best way to do that is to make an operating system that improves upon the old one’s formula. As such, Microsoft’s touch-ups to Windows 11’s Search tool may be an effort to convince people to leave Windows 10 behind and adopt the newer, shinier system.

As it stands right now, there are still several good reasons why people should stick with Windows 10. However, as Microsoft irons out these reasons, the allure of the Windows 11 upgrade may begin to grow on people’s minds.

The Search Is Over for a Better Windows 11

As Microsoft works hard to make Windows 11 the best operating system available, we’ll likely see more and more of these improvements over time. As for whether they’ll be enough to encourage people to make the jump is yet to be seen.
