How to Create a Meal in the Lifesum App

Lifesum is an excellent companion for reaching your health and fitness goals, and creating a meal is straightforward.

Adding a Meal to the Lifesum App

To add a complete meal to the Lifesum app, start by heading to your profile by tapping the Me tab at the bottom of your screen. From here, go to Favorites, and then navigate to the MEALS tab.

To add a new meal:

  1. Hit the + button in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Give your meal a name, and start adding foods. You can even add a photo of your finished dish if you can find the right angle for your food photography.
  3. Remember that a meal is usually a single serving. If you’re making a large recipe with multiple servings, then use the Favorite Recipes feature instead.

How to Delete a Meal in the Lifesum App

To delete a meal in the Lifesum app:

  1. Go into the MEALS tab of your Favorites.
  2. Select the meal you want to delete and then open it as if to edit it by clicking the pen in the top right corner.
  3. Navigate to the bin icon in the top right-hand corner on the next screen and confirm the deletion.

What’s the Difference Between a Meal and a Recipe in Lifesum?

In the Lifesum app, you have the option to add your favorite recipes as well as your favorite meals. While these sections don’t replace dedicated recipe organizer apps, they can help you to track the meals you eat the most. The main difference between these two sections is that a multi-serving recipe can be scaled to show the nutritional intake per serving. When making a meal, the foods you add should already be portioned for one serving. For this reason, it’s often best to use the Meals section of the Lifesum app for pre-portioned foods.


For example, if you are making a curry for four people, you would add this as a recipe and then track one serving. On the other hand, you could add a lunch consisting of a McDonald’s cheeseburger, large fries, and a large vanilla milkshake to a meal. You can track it in one click instead of three when you next visit.

Adding your favorite meals to the Lifesum app is just one way to make your life easier. You can also tailor your nutrition settings, change your diet plan and adjust your diary settings to make sure that the app is set up to suit your goals.
